A Regional Approach to Safeguard Water Resources
Through community dialogues, the public has an opportunity to learn about
the planning and proposed solution to the water shortage. The public
is invited to voice their concerns and learn the various aspects
of the Regional Water Project plan.
From January through March 2008, the team of experts
that prepared the conceptual plan made presentations to many city
councils throughout the area. Throughout the remainder of the year,
Regional Water Project presentations will be made to non-profit
environmental organizations; business and economic development groups;
land-use planning organizations; water advocacy groups; government
agencies (city, county and state); agricultural organizations; educational
institutions; taxpayer groups; unions; and community-based clubs.
To request a speaker to engage your group in a discussion about the Regional
Water Project, write to info@mcwd.org.
At upcoming community presentations, members of the public will be invited
to submit their opinions and ideas. Public input along with comments via
email will be summarized and reviewed at
the planning meetings. |
"By
focusing on a regional program, the Regional Water Project has
produced a brilliant & quite elegant proposal— it
is significantly less expensive than alternative proposals, environmentally
friendly and physically feasible to build in phases in much less
time (years vs. decades) ... than the Coastal Water Project desal
plant proposed at Moss Landing!"
